Clinical Psychoneuroimmunology (cPNI)
Many people in the Western world suffer from chronic diseases that appear to be linked to low-grade inflammation. Two factors chronically activate the immune system:
- Damage to our natural barriers (skin, intestinal linings): Once our natural barriers are damaged nonself-antigens enter the bloodstream and the lymphatic system, which activates the immune system locally causing the activation of the immune system against this antigen.
- Dietary-based: As soon as the second factor presents (a soap-like substance that is present in the diet, like saponin from potatoes), spontaneous activation of the immune system occurs, causing oxidative damage to toxins made of fatty acids (either endogenous or exogenous).
